Why Roshar Is Built to Kill You
Roshar is not a backdrop in the Stormlight Archive - it is closer to an antagonist. The planet is scoured by highstorms powerful enough to kill an unprepared person in minutes, and everything that survives there has adapted around that fact. This decision game exists because most fantasy settings are safe to imagine living in. Roshar is not one of them, and the choices in this game are built directly from the survival logic Sanderson embeds throughout the books: where you shelter, what you trust, and how fast you accept that the rules here are not the rules you know.
The Real Survival Rules of Roshar
Rosharan settlements are built with stormwardens, lean structures, and rooftops angled to shed highstorm winds - buildings that ignore this get destroyed within a generation. Chulls, the draft animals of Roshar, retract into their shells during storms. Grass and small life retract into the ground the instant they sense vibration or shadow, an instinct so deep it operates even on plants transplanted to greenhouses. Humans who get caught outside during a highstorm without proper shelter do not usually survive it, and the books do not treat this as dramatic exaggeration. It is baseline weather.
What the Five Decisions Are Testing
Each choice in this game maps to a real category of threat on Roshar: whether you recognize highstorm warning signs in time, whether you know which local wildlife is dangerous versus merely strange, whether you trust the right kind of shelter, how you handle first contact with spren, and whether you understand basic Rosharan social rules well enough not to accidentally violate them in a way that gets you killed by people rather than weather.
Most People Do Not Make It - Here Is Why
The instinct most newcomers to Roshar-style thinking bring is Earth logic: shelter from rain means indoors is safer than outdoors, wait it out, keep your distance from strange creatures to be safe. On Roshar, several of those instincts get you killed faster, not slower. This game is designed so that the intuitive Earth answer is frequently the wrong Rosharan answer, the same trap that catches characters like Shallan and Kaladin's crew early in the books before they learn the planet's actual logic.
