Every Stormlight reader thinks they know these voices. Kaladin sounds like Kaladin, Wit sounds like nobody else, and Lift could never be mistaken for Jasnah. This speed round tests that claim with a timer. You get fifteen real lines from the books, four faces, and five seconds before the storm takes the answer. Every right call infuses a sphere. Every miss leaves one dun.
Why a Stormlight quote quiz works so well
Brandon Sanderson writes his viewpoint characters with very different mouths. Kaladin speaks in short, blunt sentences and keeps coming back to protection and to the men he leads. Dalinar talks like a man auditing his own past, so his lines are full of responsibility, falling and rising again. Shallan jokes to avoid the thing she is actually afraid of, and Jasnah answers questions as if the person asking should have read the footnotes first. Once you hear those patterns, you can often name the speaker before you reach the end of the sentence.
The side characters are where the speed round gets hard. Lift and Lopen both play for laughs, but Lift is hungry, suspicious and allergic to grown ups, while Lopen narrates his own legend in the third person. Teft is grumpy in a different key from Wit, who is grumpy as an art form. Venli and Navani each get some of the sharpest lines in Rhythm of War, and readers who rushed that book tend to mix them up. Five seconds is enough time to read a line once and trust your ear, not enough time to reason it out.
How the speed round is scored
Each game deals fifteen quotes at random from a pool of twenty six, so no two runs are the same. A correct answer earns 50 Stormlight plus a speed bonus of up to 100 for answering fast, and a streak of three or more correct answers adds 25 more per quote. Your rank depends only on how many spheres you infuse: fourteen or fifteen makes you a Keeper of the Words, eleven to thirteen an Ardent Archivist, seven to ten a Bridge Four Storyteller, and anything lower means you are fresh off the Shattered Plains. The answer key shows every line with who said it, the context, the book it comes from, and how fast you answered.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does the Stormlight Archive Who Said It quiz work?
The game shows a real line from the Stormlight Archive and four character portraits. You have five seconds to tap the character who said it. There are fifteen quotes per game. Each correct answer lights one of fifteen spheres at the top of the screen, and the faster you answer the more Stormlight you score. After the last quote you see your score and rank, and you can unlock the full answer key.
Which characters can appear?
Twelve voices are in the pool: Kaladin, Dalinar, Shallan, Wit, Jasnah, Lift, Teft, Adolin, Lopen, Pattern, Venli and Navani. Every round shows the real speaker plus three others picked at random, so the same quote can be easy one game and tricky the next depending on who sits beside the right answer.
Are the quotes real?
Yes. Every line comes from The Way of Kings, Words of Radiance, Edgedancer, Oathbringer, Dawnshard or Rhythm of War, and each one was checked against published quote collections before it went into the game. A few long lines are trimmed with an ellipsis so they can be read inside five seconds, but no words are changed.
Does the quiz spoil the books?
Lightly. A handful of lines come from late in the series, such as Kaladin's Ideals and Dalinar's confrontation with Odium, and the answer key names the book each line is from. If you are still reading The Way of Kings or Words of Radiance, expect a couple of quotes from books you have not reached yet.
What is my blind spot?
Your blind spot is the character you missed most often in that game. The result card shows their portrait and the book the missed line comes from, which is usually the best place to start a reread. If you get all fifteen right, there is no blind spot and you are ready for Wind and Truth.
