Stormlight Archive Character Bracket: Pick Your Champion

Pencil sketches of Stormlight Archive characters pinned to a parchment page

Every Stormlight reader has a favourite, and almost nobody can rank the rest without an argument. So stop ranking and start eliminating. Sixteen characters from the Stormlight Archive, seeded one to sixteen, go head to head in a single elimination bracket. Every matchup is a page in a sketchbook: circle the character you would rather see move on and the other gets crossed out. Not who would win a duel, who you are cheering for. Fifteen calls later, one name is left standing.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the Stormlight Archive character bracket work?

Sixteen characters are seeded into a single elimination bracket. Each matchup shows two pencil sketches side by side and you circle the one you want to advance. The winners meet in the quarterfinals, then the semifinals, then the final. That is fifteen picks in total. Your last pick is your champion, drawn in full, and you can save the whole bracket as an image to share.

Which characters are in the bracket?

The sixteen seeds are Kaladin, Dalinar, Shallan, Adolin, Jasnah, Szeth, Navani, Lift, Wit, Renarin, Venli, Rock, Teft, Lopen, Pattern and Syl. The field mixes the main viewpoint characters with Bridge Four favourites and two spren, so the first round already forces some painful choices, starting with Kaladin against Syl.

Is this about who would win a fight?

No. This bracket is about who you would cheer for, so a cook can beat a Shardbearer if that is how you feel. If you want to settle who would actually win in combat, the Roshar Battle Royale on this site asks who would actually win each matchup, not who you like more.

Does the bracket spoil the Stormlight Archive?

Lightly. The character cards use short descriptions such as Windrunner or Elsecaller and avoid major plot events. A few titles, like which Radiant order a character joins, become clear partway through the series, so a reader still in The Way of Kings may want to finish book two first.

How long does it take to finish the bracket?

About two minutes. Fifteen picks, one per matchup, and the facing page writes your bracket in as you go. Your champion card and full bracket appear as soon as you enter your email, and you can build a different bracket as many times as you like.
